The thought of aliens has crossed every person’s mind at some point in childhood and maybe even into adulthood. Are aliens real? Are we the only form of life in our universe? If aliens are real, are they nice aliens? Or mean aliens? Do they want to be our friends or take over planet Earth? These are just a few of the questions that may be turning in your little one(s) minds when they are thinking of space and all that it contains. Although nobody really knows the truth about aliens, it is always fun to let your imagination run, especially for the little ones. Today we are going to spark that imagination by creating an alien riding in its very own spaceship! Let your little ones imagine, play and be kids.
White paper plates
Green construction paper
Clear plastic cup
First, gather your silver paint, foam paintbrush and 2 paper plates. Paint the bottom of each plate silver, then let them dry.
While the paper plates are drying, start creating your alien. Cut out an alien shape from your green construction paper (small enough to fit in the plastic cup), then trace the alien body and cut out a duplicate shape from the green construction paper.
Glue the two alien shapes together, leaving space at the bottom of each shape to fold out and attach to the plate (see photo below for reference).
Next, glue on however many googly eyes you want your alien to have!
Once the plates have dried, glue them together with the painted sides showing.
Then, use the tabs on the bottom of your alien to glue it on top of the paper plates.
Finally, take the plastic cup and glue it onto the paper plate, so your alien is standing inside of it!
