KIDS NIGHT IN BOX blog

Welcome to the

DIY Playdough

Watch this project come to life in the video below! It’s such a fun video for kiddo(s) to enjoy!

Playdough is a classic and it always seems to be a favorite for little one(s). I remember making my own playdough at my grandma’s house growing up. I had so much fun throughout the whole process – from mixing the ingredients together to playing with the finished product on her kitchen floor. For some reason we always made green playdough… maybe that was the only food coloring she ever had on hand! Who knows? We want to give you a recipe for a very special playdough…VALENTINE’S DAY PLAYDOUGH! Your little one(s) will be so excited! Not only does it involve glitter, but they get to watch the entire process happen. It makes for fun and easy quality time with your little one(s).

MATERIALS:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 cup of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of cream of tarter
  • 3 tablespoons of oil
  • 1.5 cups of water
  • Red or pink food coloring
  • 3 tablespoons of glitter (optional)

STEPS:

  1. Mix the flour, salt, cream of tarter, oil and glitter together in a large bowl.
  2. Boil the water and add about 10 drops of food coloring. Stir well!
  3. Pour the colored water in the large bowl with the mixture. Mix together and let sit for about 20 minutes. If the finished product seems too sticky, add a little bit of flour at a time until it is how you want it!
