Welcome to the

Bear Hunt

“We’re going on a bear hunt… got my binoculars… I’m not scared!!!” Many of you may be way too familiar with these lyrics. If you are not familiar with this song, simply search YouTube for “We’re going on a bear hunt” until you find this miraculous song. It’s such a fun and silly song for kids to sing and dance along to but today we want to take it a step beyond by giving your little one(s) the supplies they need to really go on a bear hunt! We are going to show you how to make super cute binoculars and provide you with a free printable map. The map goes along with the song and can allow your kiddo(s) to feel like a real bear hunter! This is a great way to take something the kids already love a step further while encouraging them to use their imagination!

  • 3 cardboard tubes
  • String/yarn
  • Craft tape
  • Hole puncher
  • Glue/tape
  • Map Printable
  • Coloring utensils¬†

  1. First, use your craft tape and coloring utensils to decorate two of your cardboard tubes to make your binoculars.
  2. Then, cut out a small rectangle from the remaining cardboard tube. Fold both ends of the rectangle down and then glue or tape each folded side to the center of the decorated tubes to connect them together.
  3. Use your hole puncher to punch a hole in either side of the cardboard tubes. Then tie a long piece of string through each hole to create a strap!
  4. Finally, print out the map! Now you’re ready to go hunting for bears. Take your map and binoculars and start hunting around the house or yard! Don’t forget to play the song in the background.
